How Medical Marijuanas In Queensland Can Grow In 2023

The industry of medical marijuanas in Queensland is growing with each passing year both in prescriptions and acceptance in the wider community. Prescriptions have been issued across the state and country for a number of ailments and clinical trials are underway across the country to determine the potential efficacy of medicinal cannabis for a range of conditions.

You would not think that medical marijuanas in Queensland would be an industry that would be thriving a few years ago. Yet there has been steady growth in the industry each passing year since the landmark decision by the federal government in 2016 to legalise the substance for medicinal use.

While there is still some way to go before cannabis loses its stigma completely, but there are some interesting developments and avenues of approach to see optimal growth in the industry over the next 12-18 months. This article will be going over a few of the facets where medical marijuanas in Queensland has room to grow in the future.

    Growth In Accessibility

Patients and prescribing physicians are still jumping through many institutional hoops with regulations on medical marijuanas in Queensland taking a little longer to relax and adapt to the changing landscape. There have been small movements in the right direction however, telehealth companies prescribing medical marijuanas in Queensland have become more popular in the last few years.

At the tail end of 2021 there were some landmark changes and streamlined adjustments made to legislation surrounding access. These changes to the Special Access Scheme requirements have taken much of the administrative burden from prescribing physicians and increased the accessibility of the substance for patients who otherwise would not have been able to before.

Over the next 12 months, we’re all hoping to see further easing and easier accessibility for patients and their prescribing physicians so that more people can potentially access medical marijuanas in Queensland and the rest of the country.

    Growth In Data

While there are still only a handful of TGA approved cannabis-based medications, the number of prescriptions of unapproved medical marijuanas in Queensland have exploded in recent years. There have been over 260,000 approved prescriptions since the program begun which stands to reason that there is more support in the healthcare community than previously imagined.

Governments around the country have also begun lending their ears to the possibility of efficacy with medicinal cannabis with a number of clinical trials being conducted across the country that explore the various benefits and possible impacts that cannabis could have on prevailing ailments.

With so many trials occurring and more prescriptions than ever before, it stands to reason that there will be even more data to extrapolate from in the coming months and years that may help put the stigma of medical marijuanas in Queensland behind it. The growth in data is also important for the state as most prescriptions were issued to the aptly named ‘Greensland’.

    Growth In Politics

The proponents for medical marijuanas in Queensland have been a surprising number of voters. In the recent election, the cannabis legalisation party garnered a sizeable chunk of the independent votes and were only a breath away from holding a seat in the senate. Considering the journey that medical marijuanas in Queensland have had in getting to this point, it is quite impressive to say the least.

Over the foreseeable future, we have a sneaky feeling that medical marijuanas in Queensland will gain more media attention and political intrigue as more acceptance surrounds the substance and as more research comes out. One only has to look at the American system to see that the tax benefits alone would be immense with the right push.
